Experience it all first-hand as a host family with Musica Sacra International
If you’re open to new cultures and people, are spending Whitsun at home, and also have spare rooms and beds, you’re the perfect host family for Musica Sacra International from 22 to 26 May 2026. For over 30 years, the accommodation of hundreds of singers from all over the world has only been possible thanks to the help of numerous host families in and around Marktoberdorf. Not least, this has given rise to many special experiences and long-standing friendships across national borders.
This tradition is to be continued once again at Musica Sacra International 2026. Musica Sacra International thrives on encounters – between people who treat one another with openness, curiosity and respect. Through music and dialogue, bridges are built between cultures, religions and ways of life, setting an example of peaceful coexistence. A very special part of the festival has always been the accommodation of guests with host families from the region. For many musicians, this is far more than just accommodation: it is a warm welcome, a personal exchange and often the start of friendships that last long after the festival has ended. Furthermore, it is also an opportunity to be right at the heart of Musica Sacra International as a host family.
As a host family, you should be able to accommodate two or more singers for five to six nights and provide them with breakfast. You should also, where possible, be able to take the guests to the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf in the morning and collect them from there late in the evening. In return, you will receive two concert vouchers for Musica Sacra International for each guest you host, as well as a programme booklet containing all the information about the festival, and you will become part of the large festival family.
Preparations for the festival, featuring top-class music from different religions and other cultural backgrounds in Marktoberdorf, Augsburg, Munich and the entire Allgäu region, are already in full swing. Eight ensembles from nine countries and different religions have been invited to engage in a musical dialogue together. Anyone wishing to become part of the festival family can register online using the registration form at www.musica-sacra-international.org/#gasteltern-anmeldung.
