Lions Club Marktoberdorf supports the educational programme "Tolerance goes to school"

As part of the educational programme "Tolerance goes to school", Musica Sacra International is organising the workshop "Discover the rhythm of India" in cooperation with Marktoberdorf secondary school and Sophie-La-Roche-Realschule Kaufbeuren. This workshop is largely financed by the Lions Club Marktoberdorf, which Carl Singer, current Lions President, and Birgit Karle, Lions Press Officer and Managing Director of the Festspielhaus Füssen, underlined with a cheque presentation to Ramona Wegenast, Managing Director of MODfestivals e.V..

The core aim of "Tolerance goes to school" is to teach children and young people about world religions, as well as a sense of and respect for other cultures, and the Marktoberdorf Lions Club is the main sponsor of the workshop, donating 1000 euros. Magnus Dauner from Allgäu, who himself studied at the Karnataka College of Percussion in India, is accompanying the Kaufbeuren and Marktoberdorf percussion classes run by percussion teacher Stefan Beranek. Together with the children, they are working on a rhythm composition in the Indian rhythm language Konnakol. The piece, which was rehearsed over several weeks, will be performed by the pupils before the opening concert of Musica Sacra International at the Bavarian Music Academy in Marktoberdorf.

Magnus Dauner and the Karnataka College of Percussion can also be seen at evening concerts. On Saturday, 18 May, at 8 pm in the ballroom of Irsee Monastery, on Sunday, 19 May, at 8 pm in the VerpackereiGö in Görisried and on Monday, 20 May, at 8 pm in the Dampfsäg in Sontheim. Concert tickets are available at all Eventim advance booking offices, the Eselsohr bookshop in Marktoberdorf, the service centres of the Allgäuer Zeitung newspaper and at www.musica-sacra-international.org. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the box office.
