Mother's Day: Changing concert with women's choir from the USA
To kick off this year's "Musica Sacra International" festival, MODfestivals is organising a concert with the Brigham Young University Women's Chorus under the direction of Dr Sonja Poulter from Utah/USA on Mother's Day, 12 May 2024. The concert starts at 14:30 in the parish church of St Martin. A second part will follow after a short walk together with the ensemble in the Richard Wengenmeier Hall of the Bavarian Music Academy Marktoberdorf. Following the concert, MODfestivals invites you to enjoy coffee and cake in the foyer of the Richard Wengenmeier Hall as usual. Admission is free. Donations are very welcome.
The BYU Women's Chorus is a 160-strong women's choir made up of university students from all over the United States and various countries around the world. Approximately 100 singers will be featured on Mother's Day. Under the direction of Dr Sonja Poulter, the women's choir will present a repertoire from all eras and styles. Dr Sonja Poulter was born in Germany and studied music education, musicology and English at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst and Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to directing the women's choir, Poulter is also known worldwide as a mezzo-soprano. She lives and works in Utha/USA.
After the Mother's Day concert, it will be possible to buy tickets for the Musica Sacra International Festival. Advance tickets for the festival are already available at all Eventim advance booking offices, the Eselsohr bookshop in Marktoberdorf, the service centres of the Allgäuer Zeitung newspaper and at www.musica-sacra-international.org. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the box office.
